Enjoy Namahage in Oga! The Namahage museum

The Namahage Museum offers a lot of information about Namahage. There is a “Namahage collection section” which displays real Namahage masks and costumes from 60 areas in Oga. There’s the “Mystery Hall” which displays some reference materials about Namahage, and about the beautiful nature and traditions of Oga. There’s a “Traditions Hall” which plays a movie about the Namahage events held on New Year’s Eve. There’s even a “Become a Namahage” section in which you can try on the costume of a Namahage. In April, 2013, the new and improved Namahage Museum will open. In addition to the renewed Namahage Ensemble Corner, there will be new changes to the Namahage Museum and an area to experience village life.
The Namahage Museum is located next to Oga Shinzan Folklore Museum. Shinzan Shrine is 5 minutes away by foot.
